The goal of the Jackson Heart Study (JHS) Training and Education Centers (TECs) is to design programs to increase the number of future health professionals by training students for careers in biomedical and health sciences. JHS Training and Education Centers are at Tougaloo College, Jackson State University (JSU), and the University of Southern Mississippi (USM).

Tougaloo College serves as the Undergraduate Training and Education Center (UTEC) where students take part in hands-on research and enrichment activities. The UTEC sponsors two programs: the JHS Scholars Program for undergraduate students and SLAM (Science, Language Arts, and Math) Enrichment Programs for high school students. JSU and USM both provide cardiovascular and public health research training for graduate students.
