The Jackson Heart Study Community Engagement Center serves as the bridge between research and community, working to improve cardiovascular health outcomes across Mississippi through trusted partnerships, outreach, and education.
As a community-based healthcare organization, G.A. Carmichael Family Health Center is proud to support and collaborate with initiatives that advance health and wellness across the communities it serves. The CEC is committed to translating research into practice by engaging communities in meaningful ways that promote prevention, early detection, and management of heart disease and related conditions.
Guided by a mission to advance optimal health and reduce the burden of cardiovascular disease, the CEC collaborates with community organizations, faith-based institutions, barbershops, educational institutions, and municipal leaders to deliver culturally relevant health education and screenings. The CEC also engages its Community Advisory Board (CAB), which helps ensure community voices remain central in shaping programs and priorities.
Through trusted partnerships and direct outreach, the CEC builds awareness, strengthens linkage to care, and creates pathways for healthier communities across Mississippi.
The CEC Mobile Unit further expands access by bringing health education, blood pressure screenings, and resources directly into communities, strengthening linkage to care and promoting sustained engagement. Through its work, the CEC continues to build trust, increase awareness of cardiovascular health, and create pathways for healthier communities in Mississippi.
